Once upon a time there was an old quaint, quiet little fisher village at the end of a long stretch of several small islands, called the Florida Keys. And the name of this romantic sounding place was Key West.

That was then and now? Well fishing is still very much alive. And is it still as quaint? It sure is largely due to the relentless efforts of the Key West Historical Preservation Society. Skyscrapers are totally out of the question, lol.

Is it still as quiet. Oh yes, although just three and a half by one and a half miles in diameter, there are still lots of places left, where you will be able to relax and recuperate from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

So did it change at all then? Well yes, in the number of visitors, that have come annually to experience this wonderful island by themselves, be it by car, boat or plane. What makes Key West so attractive?

Well first of all it is its subtropical climate. The fact that it is the warmest place in the winter in the continental United States has always drawn many freezing and sun starved northerners. How many other places enjoy a guaranteed 320 days of sunshine all year around at an average annual temperature of 78 degrees?

But it is not just the climate. It is also the the coral reef, the accommodations, the fantastic restaurants, the colorful nightlife, the attractions and last not least the friendly people, that make your stay a pleasant one.

So now no matter what anybody tells you, it is still a true paradise. Just click on 'Maps' to get and see a printable map of Key West or on 'Sights' to see a list of our major tourist attractions and a little slideshow.

There is also a category called 'Architecture' that features a few homes of Key West, an explanation of the different styles and a slideshow. I hope you enjoy the tour as much as I did creating it. Have fun.
